SIGNALING NETWORKS IN IMMUNITY AND INFLAMMATION

Workshop organized by Jorge Moscat, Carlos Martínez-A, Paul Rennert and Michael Karin

May 22-24, 2005, Campus of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain

Inflammation may be considered a paradigm of immune disease in which the understanding of signaling networks that connect different systems, ranging from adaptive and innate immunity to bone remodeling and destruction, is providing better comprehension of the interrelation between different molecular and cellular cascades. Pathologies such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease or multiple sclerosis are good examples of inflammation for which novel and really specific therapies are sorely lacking. The aim of this symposium is to review recent advances in the understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying these processes, which will undoubtedly help in the identification of novel therapeutic targets for the discovery of new and more specific medicines. We intend to favor interdisciplinary discussions between molecular and cellular biologists, immunologists and other researchers interested in complex mouse genetic models of immune human pathologies, particularly inflammation. The symposium will consist of lectures and a limited number of short talks that will be selected from the applicants based on novelty and cutting-edge results.

Participants: No registration fee is required but participants must register at http://www2.cbm.uam.es/signal/registrationform.htm
